Work for us : Trainer Development

With the increasing proliferation of courses being hosted on Qualification Frameworks, it is becoming common for tutors to require formal educational and assessment qualifications. For example, FutureQuals are now the chosen accrediting body for ambulance driving courses and instructors need the following to teach any FutureQuals accredited courses:

  • Operational Competency in the skill you want to teach
  • An assessor award such as D32, D33, A1 or the new Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
  • A formal teaching qualification such as PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS or the new Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

Increasingly driver trainers are also being required to hold Approved Driving Tutor registration as more and more clients train in class B vehicles.

Emstar are able to assist you in gaining the following;

Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA)

We are working with our training staff to ensure they have the best opportunity to meet the changing requirements of accrediting bodies provide them the best opportunities to gain high quality, reliable and rewarding work placements. Emstar is accredited to deliver the latest Assessor Qualification (CAVA) and offers discounted packages for tutors.

Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Approved Driving Tutor (ADI)

We look to provide regular work for our driving tutors by winning competitive tenders throughout the emergency service environment. Recently, the requirement for tutors to be registered on the DVSA Approved Driving Tutor register, has become an essential element when we look to place tutors with clients. To ensure all driver tutors have the opportunity and to encourage tutors to meet modern requirements, Emstar is providing subsidised ADI part three training.

Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)

A major development in training delivery, particularly for qualifications that sit with accrediting bodies, is the requirement for Internal Quality Assurance (IQA). This process looks to ensure the quality of assessment throughout the training process and involves checks on all aspects of training delivery and assessment, there is a real benefit for the tutors with this process. As tutors, will receive feedback following an IQA visit and these reports allow tutors to gain valuable evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). We have our own IQA for driver and clinical qualifications.

Emstar are assisting our trainers whenever possible in this regard and our Training Director Steve Curley is taking an active role in our Educational programmes.
